Learn to teach music in public or private pre-K through 12 school settings with the 音乐教学研究生证书 in 亿德体育’s Boyer College of Music 和 Dance. Designed for students who completed an undergraduate degree in music, the 25-credit Music Teaching Certificate program offers a pathway to engage in current pre-K through 12th grade music learning 和 teaching practices while forming the credentials required by the 宾夕法尼亚州教育部 (PDE) to earn a Level I pre-K–12 Music Instructional Certificate.

Spend one full semester student teaching 和 gain the experience to

  • engage learners in culturally responsive music activities, including connecting music 和 music learning to every day life, 和即兴创作, creating 和 performing music; 和

  • guide students’ music learning 和 development 和 share outcomes of their progress.

Up to nine hours from specific courses in the Music Teaching 研究生 Certificate program can be applied towards the 音乐教育硕士 if the application is submitted within two semesters of certificate matriculation.

The Music Teaching 研究生 Certificate program can be completed in four semesters. Coursework for the program is held on Main Campus, with the exceptions of two courses offered online, 和 student teaching placements in elementary 和 secondary music settings.

课程 include observations 和 extern teaching in schools off campus apart from course time. One semester of full-time music student teaching allows students to meet 宾夕法尼亚州教育部 requirements, 和 to be eligible for 亿德体育’s recommendation to the PDE for Level I pre-K–12 music certification.
